Clear spans, tall doors, and engineered structure for the machinery your operation runs on, built start to finish by our local Eastern Iowa crew.

Machine Sheds Sized for

Modern Equipment

Farm equipment has outgrown the sheds built a generation ago. Combines run wider, planters fold taller, and the cost of what is parked inside has multiplied. A modern machine shed has to clear span the full width, swallow the tallest implement through its doors, and protect machinery worth more than the building many times over.

Premier Buildings constructs machine sheds across Eastern Iowa with engineered post frame construction: laminated columns at proper embedment depths, clear span trusses up to the widths modern equipment demands, and uplift connections rated for the straight line winds our region produces.

Every machine shed starts with your equipment list, present and planned. Door widths, sidewall heights, and bay depths all flow from what you run, and we would rather design around the planter you are buying in three years than watch you measure doorways with a tape and a prayer.

A machine shed protects the most expensive equipment on the farm, and it gets judged every time something has to be parked, hooked up, or pulled out in a hurry. The buildings we hear about years later are the ones where everything fits, the doors run smoothly in February, and the floor has not moved.

Designed Around Your Fleet

Door widths, clearance heights, and bay depths planned around your actual equipment list.

BUILT FOR IOWA

Clear span trusses, column embedment, and uplift connections specified for Eastern Iowa loads.

Machine sheds look simple from the road.
The difference between a good one and a regret shows up in three places.

Clear Spans Without Compromise

Engineered trusses clear span the full building width, so you park by plan instead of threading equipment between posts. Wide spans demand correct truss spacing and bracing, and ours are engineered, not estimated.

Doors That Swallow the Fleet

Sliding or overhead doors sized for your widest and tallest implements with real margin, framed with headers and jamb columns sized for the opening so they run smoothly for decades.

Condensation Control

A vapor barrier under the roof steel and proper ridge ventilation keep condensation from dripping on stored equipment, which is the quiet killer of paint, electronics, and bearings in unmanaged sheds.

From The National Association Of Home Builders:

Post frame construction achieves wide clear spans economically because engineered trusses bear directly on widely spaced structural columns, an efficiency the National Frame Building Association identifies as central to the system's dominance in agricultural equipment storage.

Compact buildings for mowers, tools, and seasonal gear, finished to complement your home.

Open Front Sheds

Roofed, deep bays open on one side for fast access to implements and wagons in season.

FAQs

Common Questions About Building With Premier Buildings

  • How wide can you clear span?

Wide enough for any practical machine shed, with engineered trusses handling spans well beyond what modern equipment requires. Your quote will show the span and truss design for your building.

  • Sliding doors or overhead doors?

Sliding doors cost less and cover huge openings; overhead doors seal tighter and open in any weather. Many sheds use both, and we will walk through the tradeoffs for your layout.

  • Concrete or gravel floor?

Concrete for maintenance bays and anything you will work under; compacted gravel can be sensible for pure cold storage bays. We quote the combinations so you can decide with real numbers.

  • Can I add a heated shop bay?

Yes, and it is our most requested option. An insulated bay with heat and a concrete floor turns winter repairs from a misery into a normal afternoon.

  • How fast can you build a machine shed?

Once the pad is ready, the structure goes up quickly, and most sheds are completed within weeks. We will give you a schedule with your quote and, because one crew handles everything, we keep it.
