Cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats all need different buildings. We design around your operation and build it start to finish with our own Eastern Iowa crew.
Livestock Buildings That Earn Their Keep
A livestock building is a piece of working equipment. It has to protect animal health, make daily chores faster, stand up to animals leaning and rubbing on everything, and pay for itself in performance. That is a different design problem than any other building on the farm, and it deserves a builder who treats it that way.
Premier Buildings constructs livestock housing across Eastern Iowa using engineered post frame construction: clear span interiors for flexible pen layouts, tall sidewalls for air volume, and structures detailed for the corrosive, high moisture environment animals create.
Whether you are housing a cow calf herd, finishing cattle, raising hogs, or running sheep and goats, the building starts with your operation: head count, feeding system, manure handling, and how you work your animals. Then we design and build around it, start to finish.
Why Eastern Iowa Families Choose Premier Buildings
Farmers judge buildings in years of chores, vet bills, and rate of gain, not in photographs. The livestock buildings we are proudest of are the ones owners describe the same way: the cattle stay healthy, the chores go fast, and the building has not asked for anything since we left.

Animal Environment First
Ventilation, air volume, and moisture control designed for animal health and performance.
BUILT FOR IOWA
Column embedment, truss spacing, and uplift connections specified for our wind and snow loads.
How We Build Differently
Livestock buildings live a harder life than any other structure on the farm.
Here is how we build for that reality.
Ventilation Drives Performance
Ridge openings, sidewall curtains or vents, and building orientation work together to keep fresh air moving across the stock in every season. Good air is the cheapest health input on the farm.
Detailed for a Corrosive Environment
Manure gases and constant moisture attack steel and fasteners. We spec coatings, fasteners, and concrete details for the livestock environment, and we protect columns where animals and equipment contact them.
Designed Around Your Chores
Gate swings, alley widths, feed delivery, and manure handling are designed with you before we ever quote, because a building that fights your daily routine is a bad building no matter how well it is framed.
From The National Association Of Home Builders:
Post frame construction has been the dominant system for livestock and agricultural buildings for decades, with the National Frame Building Association citing its large clear spans, ventilation flexibility, and cost efficiency as the reasons it remains the standard for animal housing.
A Complete Livestock Building, Not a Shell
We quote livestock buildings as complete working facilities, sited and finished for the day your animals move in.

FAQs
Common Questions About Building With Premier Buildings
What is the advantage of a monoslope building for cattle?
Orientation. With the tall open side facing south, cattle get winter sun and summer shade, and the single pitch roof drives natural airflow across the pens. It has become the standard for cattle comfort in our region for good reason.
How do you handle manure systems?
We design the building around your handling plan, whether that is scrape alleys, bedded packs, or pit systems, and we coordinate the concrete work so equipment access and slopes are right the first time.
Will the steel hold up to manure gases?
We specify coatings and fasteners rated for the livestock environment and detail interior liners where exposure is highest. Corrosion resistance is a design line item, not an afterthought.
Can the building expand later?
Yes, and post frame construction expands more cleanly than most systems. If growth is in your plans, tell us during design and we will frame the end wall so the addition ties in simply.
Do you work with my nutritionist or vet on the design?
Gladly. The best livestock buildings come out of conversations between the people who know your animals and the people building the structure, and we welcome that input during design.
